Goddess Durga

Durga is the supreme goddess who protects the world from evil and negative forces.

Who is Goddess Durga?

Goddess Durga, also known as Amba, is one of the most revered deities in Hinduism. She is the fierce form of Parvati, the divine mother. Durga manifests herself in times of distress to restore dharma, slay evil forces, and protect her devotees. Often depicted riding a lion, she carries weapons in her many arms, symbolizing her strength and ability to confront challenges.

Durga's name means "invincible," and she is celebrated for her victory over the demon Mahishasura, a symbol of ignorance and arrogance. The festival of Navratri is dedicated to her, spanning nine nights to honor her different forms.
